10/21/2011 Kindergarten 50's Day at Boston

Lindsay showing off her poodle skirt! Lots of poodle skirts today! I wish I had one.

Meleigh and Lindsay are "BESTIES"!

My Cutie Patootie!!

Lindsay enjoying her chocolate shake...

Meleigh & Lindsay in line to go to the sock hop!

Meleigh's mommy and I are co-room Mom's and we used our blender's to make vanilla and chocolate milk shakes for all of the children in the class.

More of the students standing in line. This class is SO WELL BEHAVED!!

We saw this AWESOME looking ride outside of the gym! Other teacher's and I were all taking photos of it!

Here is Mr. Conley the principal playing the drums for the sock hop. His band was he and his two brother's. They were awesome! They played lots of Elvis songs and some Little Richard too!

Here is a photo of lots of kid's dancing with the band in the background.

CAN YOU SAY "FUN FRIDAY"?

Happy Lindsay!!

Lindsay and I danced together and she loved to have me twirl her so her skirt would look pretty.

We did the "twist" and the "Swim", although I can't remember if the swim is a 60's dance or 50's??

By the way, the whole reason for this theme day was to celebrate the 50th day of the school year! It's hard to believe that so much time has passed already! Soon, she will be headed for FIRST grade!

Lindsay and her best friend from Pre-K, her name is Azaleigh and she is in Ms. Delauder's class.

Here is a gang of friends from Discovery Pointe.

Lindsay LOVED her POODLE SKIRT! Thank you to my friend Kim Snook and her daughter Samantha for passing it down to us. Hopefully Brooke will get to wear it when she gets into kindergarten in two more years. If not, it will make a good Halloween costume one year.

Ms. Chee-How poses with Lindsay, she had a poodle skirt too!

Ms. Chee-How dances with Lindsay.

Dancing lower and lower and lower...

Lindsay's friend Lennon! Of all the boys she knows she "tolerates" Lennon since he is such a nice boy! (notice they are holding hands)

The entire Kindergarten class on the floor in front of the band, while Mr. Conley tells them a story.

The guitarist closest to the end here is Mr. Conley's brother who came from El Paso Texas to play this gig today.

All of us adults were really impressed with the band. Where else do you have a principal play the drums and sing lead vocals in a band for the kid's? Especially the KINDERGARTEN CLASS!!

Ms. Chee-How dancing with Melanie.

Meleigh and Sidney dancing together. All the girls' are friends.

This is the back of Ms. Delauder's jacket. I thought it was great she had a "PINK LADIES" Jacket.

Here she is from the front she also has a poodle skirt. I am going to have to have someone make me one before Brooke gets to Kindergarten!!

We had a blast today, all of the kid's are so much fun. Ms. Chee-How has a great class!

Thank you to Sarah my co-room mom for picking up the ingredients for the shakes. Also, thank you Ms. Chee-How for letting me sit with Lindsay in class through the announcements.

It is so much fun being a room mom, and so many of the children thanked us for bringing the stuff to make shakes! Just the SWEETEST!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

The panting puppy dog!

A very happy and proud Boston Bear at her first Fall Festival as a student! We had a great time. I volunteered at the cake walk for an hour and then we hung out and played games, played on the playground, ate lunch, won some free chic-fil-a stuff. I think theFestival was a huge success for the school. The raffle baskets were incredible, but we haven't gotten a call yet so I guess we did not win anything. :(

10/14/2011 Lindsay's First Report Card!!

Today, 10/14/2011 Lindsay came home with her first GREAT report card. She just finished her first 9 week semester in REAL school! We are so proud of her. She got perfect attendance and all Satisfactories in what they call "specials" which is Art, Music, and P.E. The actual report card is different to read from what you would normally expect. She received many "CD" marks which stands for "Consistently Demonstrating". They aren't on the A, B, C, D, F grading system yet. Which we hope at the point that either girl gets to that stage they will always stick with the A, B, grades!! She also had several "PR" marks which means Progressing, as well as "MS" which equals "Meets Standards". Her teacher comments included that Lindsay is an excellent student! Nothing could make a mom and dad prouder to see on a report card! We are also very happy with her teacher this year Ms. Chee-How and we can only hope that she will have as excellent teachers every year at Boston! We think the world of Ms. Chee-How and I am not just saying that because I am one of her Room Mom's!! It seems all of the kid's in her class are really responding well. Lindsay is reading so much better now. We watch her sound out words and she is actually teaching Brooke a lot. We will see how well she has taught Brooke when she gets into Pre-K next Fall. I think her pre-k teacher will be very impressed with Brooke next year. We are amazed at the words Brooke is saying now, although she really needs to work on her writing, but that will come. Mom and Dad are going to work with Brookie this summer on some of her writing skills before pre-K. She first will need to learn to write her name. She knows it when she sees it written and she will always tell us it's "BROOKE". She is recognizing so many letters now just from being in daycare. Discovery Pointe is an awesome daycare! There are days Lindsay comes home from school and Brooke is working on the same stuff the same week! They really are helping these children advance. I pray that both Lindsay and Brooke will get such a solid education that they will be able to just pick their college! (someday-ouch).

At any rate, this is a first experience for these parents. It's so amazing to watch them grow, learn and change!

We hope everyone else is doing well. Tomorrow is the Boston Fall Festival so be on the look out for lots of photos from tomorrow in a later blog post.

Be back SOON!

October 1st Medicare is Active!!!

It is not fun to be without medical insurance which I have been since end of November 2010!
Do not ever let this happen to you if you can help it. I am so glad that my Medicare is finally activated! Paying for prescription medications out of pocket and doc appointments out of pocket will break you financially. Especially, when two bread winner's of your household get sick at the same time. Fortunately, through much outside help from our families and Church Community we have survived the last three years! This coming June will be Lindsay's 6th birthday and Mike and I's tenth wedding anniversary. I will be so proud of us and happy when we make it to that milestone. Mike is actually going to get a quote this week for medical insurance for him and the girls' from my Humana representative. That makes me even happier now, if we can pull that off. I know that some people go on PeachCare if they have to. But, I would hate for Brooke and Lindsay to have to lose the pediatrician that they love and have had for both of their whole lives. Their pediatrician does not accept Peachcare. Hardly any around here do. It's ridiculous. Not only that but the health department won't see you for well-child checks and I think they will turn you away to the ER for sick kid's too. I would hate to be in that boat with one of my girls. Anyway, say a prayer that the Humana prices meet our financial criteria and we can pull it off.

Thanks to everyone who has always understood and helped out where needed!

We love you all!
