One Day at a Time

I promise to give a lengthy update this weekend. For now, thank you all for all your comments, emails and prayers! Mike is doing very well. He may be home as early as tomorrow but I suspect Saturday.

He had a kidney function test this morning and we will be talking with docs tomorrow about results. It could take up to 4 weeks for his kidney to really kick in as it was in bad shape. There is a possibility that it may never have good function even though the blood flow is restored. They may not have gotten to it in time. That will all be seen in the next month or so. However, Mike is on solid foods today and oral meds now. He is walking laps around the floor and SO ready to come home and get some real sleep. He says they don't let you sleep in the hospital.

Please pray now for restored kidney function on the left as we don't know what the future holds with that mass or tumor on the right. We'll have to deal with that very shortly after he recovers and our new baby girl gets here. (I just can't wait for those post pardom hormones on top of all this...)

I'm doing well. Today I was a bit of a mess. I call it my "after shock day". It just sort of all hit me and I was way too emotional. I'm better this evening after a long afternoon visit with Mike.

More soon!! Thanks again!

It is good to hear that Mike is doing better. Of course we will continue to pray for his kidney to be healed and for the other to be nothing to worry about. Hang in there Chris and take care of yourself!!!

As promised I added y'all to my prayer groups prayer list-you are in good hands as we are all prayer warriors!

My father-in-law used to say the same thing as Mike..."a hospital is no place to go to get some sleep." I'd have to agree with them!

When my Dad has his heart attack last year, my Mom was rock solid through it all...and then about a month or so later, she lost it and dealt with some depression. You are right - it's like an aftershock of "what might have been..." God Bless your whole family; especially Mike! You guys are really getting hit right now. You are in SO MANY prayers across the country!! I am looking forward to an update when you can...I'd love to know what started all of this - incase this happens to any of us - we can learn from your story.
