Friday Night 80's Night! The CONCERT at Chastain

Our gang at the table. Mike was taking the picture. Our BIG suprise for Kim was we had a table! She had no clue where our seats really were. We had our dinner catered by Proof of the Pudding and it was pretty good and super easy to deal with. So we had a nice group of 6. (L to R: me, Kim, Missy, Donna & Sheila)

Our view of the stage from our table
First up was Scandal...Patty Smythe was AWESOME! Remember "I am the Warrior" and "Goodbye to You?"
It was SO good. We were all very impressed with how good they were and the crowd was very into it for an opening act.
Eddie Money was ok. The music rocked but his stand up kind of stunk. He opened with "Two Tickets to paradise". We all loved "Take Me Home Tonight" and "Shakin"!
Here's Donna modeling with her super cool, funky glass that lights up and changes colors!
Donna & Missy "Ladies of the 80's"

Love this shot of Missy & I. Next Concert is BON JOVI girl!
Sheila is Donna's co worker. She grew up with Rick posters on her wall. That was all we needed to hear to ask her to join our fun!
So here are a few shots of some of the crazy's. This guy had every good looking girl in the park dancing with him. Go figure! He rocked out the entire show. He had some moves too man. We spent a lot of time the first two acts rolling laughing at this guy!
Now this just...well, there are no words.

More fun pics of the group. It was great for Missy and Kim to get some time together. Can't wait for us all to get together again and next time it will be with RENATA too. We missed you girl!

As par for Chastain...it started to rain. Our table cloth was the perfect size for us all to wait it out under.
Now for the good stuff...here is Kim anxious in anticipation...the lights are low...the music is building...
She can't take it anymore...
HERE HE IS!! This pic was taken from our row with the zoom. Keep reading because it gets really good...

Can I take a moment here to say that Kim and I have NEVER gone to a Rick concert that we did not eventually make our way to the front. This night was no exception. However, it was the biggest challenge ever. The security people were CHICKS...not just CHICKS but menopausal old ladies who were REALLY, REALLY vicious. I can't tell you how nasty it almost got but we knew how to out smart them. It took us a little longer than usual to get our position but we made it. What's up with that anyway? In the old days you just sweet talked your way past the big ole' teddy bear MALE security guard. If that didn't work you just flashed your way in...LOL...ok seriously...whatever it takes man. This female security guard thing is ridiculous. It seriously is dangerous. Someone should let Chastain know. Women trying to stop women from getting where/what they want is just going to be UGLY people...very, very UGLY!

Rick brought someone's cute kid on stage...SO bringing Lindsay with me next time. TOTALLY should have thought of that.
Here's where it gets good people...Look how close we were. HUMAN TOUCH MAN!
He's still hot for 50 something...
Here he is coming right over by us....freaking out now...having trouble holding the camera steady.
Here is how close I was...no joke...NO ZOOM...this is the back of Rick. I of course couldn't take the shot of his face because my FREAKING camera wouldn't focus and I was shaking so bad I have no idea what happened but I got this instead...Kim almost touched him here. He was inches from her as she reached out he moved. FOILED AGAIN!

Rick is starting to walk away...come back...OMG!!
Finally, I get a front shot and check these people out...I think they're saying HOLY COW...we just touched him...or something like that.
Nice...
So here are the girls who helped us beat the Natzi Security BEOTCH! Don't they look cool? We totally made friends with them and when we saw our opening we went for it. They're group jumped a table and five of the six of them got to the floor. Just as Kim and I were heading for the same route...crazy security lady almost killed herself (tripped over a chair) to block us and the sixth girl in their group. However, that is the point that Kim and I looked at each other and said "SHE'S GOING DOWN". We waited her out a few minutes and played coy...she headed back to her other post when Rick meandered over to the other side of the stage. I guess she thought it was safe since he was on the other side...well we bolted. Let me tell you the adrenaline rush was crazy. I didn't look back I just ran and pushed Kim until we were in the middle of the crowd on the floor. I could handle this stuff when I was 20 at 37 my hear was racing but I still had it in me...we had something to prove man...I had a mission and one mission only...help Kim get to RICK. That's what friends are for ya know.
Here's the man after he came back out for his encore. The encore we were up front for...I got some good shots because at this point I was standing on a chair. The poor people who actually had these tables up front were gone by this time. LOL! Oh, and it's a crying shame that the people who were very front row...table just under the stage...not a one of them was under 60. Come on, what's up with that? So NOT fair. Those tables should be given only to crazy 80's ladies who still hold onto the faint dream of being "JESSIE'S GIRL"...

Good night Sweet Rick...
Kim with her arm on the stage...TAKE THAT PSYCHO FEMALE SECURITY GUARD!
The rose petals...for those of you who don't know, Rick sprays rose petals into the air by way of his guitar. We managed to get our 18 red roses up to him as well.
Here they are...

YEAH BABY! We've still got it. We made it to the front once again. Next time we're just going to buy the darn guitar and go back stage. What's 500 smackers between friends. You hear me Renata...next show we're there. I had a blast! Someone remind me of all this when my daughter is a psycho groupie for some band and she's stage diving...
I will know where she get's it from for sure.
I mean she did go to three rock concerts in utero...I AM SO IN FOR IT!
Had a blast KIM...I already miss you! LOVE YA, MEAN IT!

You are beyond cracking me up this morning reading this!!! So here's a good idea - when you get really old and retire YOU too can be one of those women security guards at Chastain and say "no way, you're not getting anywhere near MY MAN!" :)

LOVE Lindsay's b'day portraits, too! They turned out fabulous!! Who told her she could grow up????
